Operating Systems

Operating system (OS) is the basis of any computer; it is a set of programs that solve 2 important tasks:

  • acts as an interface between computer system devices and application programs
  • manage devices and workflows, efficiently allocating system resources

Currently, the most popular operating systems are Microsoft Windows, Linux, MacOS, Unix, etc. Operating systems are divided by areas of use, as well as by the specific implementation of computer resource management processes.

A Windows license allows you to sequentially run several (and not just one, as in DOS) applications and switch between them while working. It also combines convenience, the broadest functionality and performance. Networks with dedicated servers are characterized by the use of special network operating systems optimized to work as either servers or clients.

Server operating systems combine the following features:

  • support for powerful hardware platforms
  • wide range of network services
  • support for a large number of simultaneously running processes and network connections
  • availability of developed security tools and centralized network administration tools

Computers developed by Apple use various versions of the Mac OS operating system which is stable, reliable, and has a clear and user-friendly interface.

Linux OS, the main advantage of which is its free distribution, already includes in its distribution a wide range of applications and programs necessary for working with texts, images, etc. Linux is almost universal in its use. This OS is suitable for both home and office computers, and as a system for a server, the Internet and a local network.
